Our donkey, Little Jack, is a favorite of children and parents alike. When he begins to bray, everyone knows Little Jack isn’t getting any attention! We also have two cute goats, Becky and her daughter Gecko. Gecko doesn’t have horns, and when she was first born her face looked more like a gecko that a goat, hence her name. The donkey enjoys carrots or apples as a treat, but the goats do not. They prefer some fresh picked tree leaves or grass. The petting farm is available all day during daylight hours. You may also see the farm dog and the farm cat as you tour the property.
We have an outdoor fitness area and over a mile of hiking trails, gentle to moderate, on our property, primarily through our heavily wooded areas. There are no charges for any of the farm activities, its just part of the value for staying at Pioneer Cabins and Guest Farm. Our goal is for our guests to enjoy healthy and active country life. The farm activities are only available to the guests staying at Pioneer Cabins.
We have organic gardens around the drive way, office, and next to the horse pasture. We grow local plants, fruit trees, wild flowers and cut flowers, vegetables, and herbs.
